I believe everyone has heard the words "2020 is the decisive year to win the battle to defend the blue sky." Since the beginning of this year, it can be said that the industrial production system of architectural ceramics has suffered a lot of "damage" because of this sentence; environmental protection, green production and sustainable development are national undertakings, and it stands to reason that they should be consistent with the development direction of the architectural ceramics industry. , why is there still a word of "injury"?

Before writing this article, the author once took stock of the current determination to eliminate backward kilns in various ceramic production areas across the country in the article "The kilns in your factory should be eliminated"; during the two sessions, "Jian Ceramics Where is the path to sustainable development? The article "Four Directions Pointed Out at the Two Sessions in 2020" also mentioned that nearly a thousand production lines of Guangdong construction and ceramics enterprises must complete the coal-to-gas conversion by the end of 2020. Regardless of whether these "requirements" are "one size fits all", we can see that the environmental protection improvement of ceramic industry production has reached a critical moment without delay. On June 3, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment proposed in the "Opinions on Resolutely Winning the Battle of Pollution Prevention and Control" that areas with large production capacity in the building materials industry should study and carry out ultra-low emission transformation in cement, ceramics and other industries according to local conditions.

In the aspect of "environmental protection production", it is clear that the enterprise and society have the same direction and the same original intention. Why has it reached the current serious stage in the implementation process? Gas changes, emission restrictions, rising fuel prices... Why is the environmental protection path of the building ceramics industry becoming more and more difficult? The issues we want to discuss today may be a bit realistic and sharp, but they are still worthy of our serious consideration.

On the one hand, standards and plans emerge frequently
But everything the company does is wrong?

The "Guangdong Province Implementation Plan for Winning the Blue Sky Defense War (2018-2020)" issued in early 2019 mentioned that by the end of 2020, Zhuhai, Foshan, Shaoguan, Dongguan, Jiangmen, Zhaoqing, Qingyuan and other cities will need basic Complete the clean energy transformation of the building ceramics industry (under the premise of ensuring gas supply, in accordance with the principle of "contract first, then develop"); by the end of June 2020, building ceramics companies must fully complete the construction of denitrification facilities for the building ceramics production line to ensure nitrogen oxidation The emission concentration of pollutants shall not be higher than 100mg/m3, and the emission concentration of sulfur dioxide shall not be higher than 300mg/m3.

This recipeIt has been more than a year since the project was released. In order to promote the implementation of environmental protection work, various new regulations and plans have emerged in an endless stream during this period.

On January 14, 2020, the "Technical Specifications for Ceramic Industry Waste Gas Treatment Engineering" standard was released for the first time and officially implemented; this standard stipulates the technical requirements for the design, construction, acceptance and operation management of ceramic industry waste gas treatment projects and is a guideline standard. It is understood that this standard is applicable to waste gas treatment in industrial production processes (excluding fuel coal gas production systems) such as daily use and furnishing art porcelain, architectural ceramics, sanitary ceramics and special ceramics. It will also be the basis for the environmental impact assessment of ceramic industry construction projects. and the basis for feasibility studies, design, construction, acceptance, operation and management of environmental protection facilities.

On January 17, 2020, the "Technical Guidelines for Pollution Source Accounting for Ceramic Products Manufacturing" was released for the first time and officially implemented on March 1; this standard stipulates the accounting for strong pollution sources of waste gas, waste water, noise, and solid waste from the manufacturing of ceramic products. The basic principles, content, accounting methods and requirements are applicable to the accounting of pollution sources of new (renovated and expanded) projects for manufacturing ceramic products and the pollution sources of existing projects.

The "Industrial Kiln Air Pollution Comprehensive Control Plan" issued on July 12, 2019 mentioned that in 2020, it is necessary to basically improve the comprehensive management system of industrial furnace air pollution and promote the comprehensive emission standards of industrial furnaces. In the first three months of 2020, many provinces such as Shandong and Liaoning have successively issued the "Implementation Plan for Comprehensive Control of Air Pollution from Industrial Furnaces", which basically follows the principle of "eliminating a batch, replacing a batch, and treating a batch". The backwardness of industrial furnaces and kilns is like an ultimatum, and the construction and ceramics industry is the first to bear the brunt.

Why is it so difficult to implement and delayed again and again? Isn’t it enough that companies are willing to spend money to change lines, upgrade equipment, and buy new kilns? The truth is not as simple as imagined. According to relevant academic information: my country's new energy and unconventional energy have developed rapidly in recent years, but coal is still the main energy source at this stage; according to predictions, coal will account for 50% of primary energy by 2030; and new Among energy and renewable energy, oil and gas resource reserves only account for about 3% of my country's proven energy resource reserves; the total supply of clean energy is still low, and it is difficult to increase significantly in the short term. Problems such as the difficulty are prominent.

According to media statistics, the natural gas consumption of each ceramic production line is about 45,000 m³/day. Based on this, it is estimated that the annual natural gas requirement of Guangdong’s 976 production lines is about 14.5 billion m³. This figure is equivalent to the production of ceramics alone. Accounting for 51% of the gas supply of the province's main natural gas pipeline network.76% and 28.98% of natural gas storage capacity. Through comparison of data, we can clearly feel that the living space of these 976 production lines will be greatly compressed. In addition, ceramic tiles need to be produced continuously, and power and gas cannot be cut off suddenly during the process. Therefore, the stability requirements for the quality of air supply are also relatively high. These are definitely not problems that can be solved by spending money to build air pipes or modify equipment.

Environmental protection once action is taken
Do companies only have two options: AB?

▲Jiangjun Enterprise Zhaoqing Production Base

Recently, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment revealed in a tweet the news about the progress of Zhaoqing Ceramics’ “coal-to-gas” transformation, which attracted widespread attention in the industry. The article contains the following content: There are currently 63 ceramic companies in Zhaoqing, with a total of 260 production lines. Among them, 15 companies plan to close down and exit, with 55 production lines; and among the 48 companies planning to implement "coal to gas", 164 production lines , 132 production lines have been modified, and 50 have passed the acceptance of "coal-to-gas" production lines. Losing 20% of production capacity in one go is already an unbearable pain. Not counting the remaining more than 100 production lines that have not passed the acceptance inspection, the subsequent variables are still unknown.

Qingyuan, Guangdong is also a production area where environmental protection has led to the policy-based withdrawal of a large number of ceramic production lines. According to Liu Jun, Party Secretary and Director of the Qingyuan Municipal Industry and Information Technology Bureau, in the ceramic industry, more than 40 of the city's 160 production lines have now been stopped, and the future goal is to reduce the number to about 50.

On the morning of June 4, 2020, Jiangmen Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau reported at a press conference the progress of Jiangmen City’s blue sky defense campaign and other work from January to May. According to reports, Jiangmen will continue to promote the rectification of the remaining 68 construction ceramic production lines this year. Among them, Enping has 56 production lines, accounting for more than 80% of Jiangmen City. Enping City has become a key area; as of the end of May, Jiangmen City has 40 construction ceramic production linesRenovation or closure.

According to incomplete statistics, there were more than 200 production lines in Guangdong production areas that completed coal-to-gas conversion last year, and the number of production lines that were shut down or forced to withdraw was as high as hundreds; according to a company in Zhaoqing, which has completed the "coal-to-gas" conversion companies revealed that the use of natural gas increased their production costs by 2-3 yuan per square meter. Shut down and exit or increase production costs. Under the general trend of environmental protection rectification, companies have only two choices, A and B.

The road to green development is blocked
Major celebrities rectify the name of the ceramics industry

When the construction and ceramics industrial production is labeled as the "three highs" (high energy consumption, high pollution, and high emissions), and when some regions impose a "one size fits all" policy on enterprises in the matter of "coal to gas", when the construction and ceramics industry Enterprises face problems such as expensive gas consumption and unstable gas supply... which not only affects the green development of the ceramic industry, but also affects the confidence of the ceramic industry in its transformation and upgrading. It is undeniable that the current ceramic industry is facing severe challenges. While overcoming current problems, companies need to think in the long term and find new hopes and breakthroughs. To this end, the author has compiled the opinions and remarks of various industry figures on the green development path of the industry, so as to encourage each other to regain confidence.

▲Xinmingzhu Ceramics Group Zhaoqing Production Base

Ye Delin, chairman of New Pearl Group, once said at the Nanzhuang Town Ceramic Industry Promotion Conference that environmentally friendly production must take the path of cooperative development and integrate the ceramic industry and various enterprises by leveraging the scientific research results and technological advantages of universities and scientific research institutes. With its industrial strength and resource advantages, it will invest energy conservation, environmental protection, green and low-carbon concepts into the transformation, upgrading and high-quality development of the ceramic industry. At the meeting, New Pearl Group and two companies including Guangdong Elson Energy Saving and Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. also signed four environmental protection project contracts worth nearly 33 million yuan to carry out ceramic flue gas projects in Foshan Sanshui and Zhaoqing Lubu Industrial Park. Integration of deep whitening, flue gas desulfurization and dust removal, as well as renovation and upgrading of existing environmental protection facilities. It is reported that in recent years, Xinmingzhu has invested in energy conservation and reductionIt has invested more than 500 million yuan in consumption and green and intelligent upgrading and transformation. Its three production bases in Foshan Sanshui, Zhaoqing Lubu and Jiangxi Gaoan have all been rated as "green factories" by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Chen Huan, President of the Guangdong Ceramics Association, reflected on the difficulties faced by ceramic enterprises during the implementation of coal-to-gas conversion at the recent Zhaoqing coal-to-gas work conference, including weak infrastructure and imperfect mechanisms, resulting in gas guarantee Issues need to be further implemented. Chen Huan also mentioned at other conferences that after 40 years of reform and opening up, my country's ceramic industry production has been ranked among the international ranks, and the industry is constantly moving towards a higher level of greening, which is worthy of recognition. In the future, we should look for ways for companies to achieve green development under a high-quality development system, such as "team development" and "cross-border development"; companies need to explore new ideas and develop innovatively, and it is also very important to work together.

▲Huang Jianping, deputy to the National People’s Congress and chairman of Weimei Group

Huang Jianping, chairman of Weimei Group, said in an interview with Guangdong Satellite TV that Guangdong has been promoting the conversion of coal to gas in recent years. Many coal-fired companies have switched to natural gas, but the conversion from coal to gas has weakened the cost advantage of the manufacturing industry. ; Huang Jianping’s personal suggestion is to “free up both ends and control the middle”, that is, open up the supply side and the gas consumption end, and users can have the freedom to choose whether to buy gas from PetroChina, CNOOC or Shenzhen Gas; control the transportation in the middle. The transmission link is the pipeline network, just like power transmission and transformation. The safety of the power grid needs to be controlled. It is recommended that the intermediate links of gas should be controlled by the state. If this is done, the cost of natural gas is expected to drop by at least a third.

......

Finally, the author also wants to say that the ceramic construction industry is indeed of great significance to protecting the environment, and ceramic tiles are a green building material that "turns mud into treasure". When chatting with a ceramics company owner who has set up a factory in Enping a few days ago, the author asked, how can the ceramics industry clear its name? The boss thought deeply and said that this kind of "getting back a breath" can only depend on the precipitation of time. After hundreds or even thousands of years, stone materials, etc. Non-renewable materials may no longer appear on the market, but at that time ceramic tiles must still be the first choice for building decoration materials.
